Kristie L. Darien
Executive Director, Legislative Offices
Kristie L. Darien is the Executive Director for the National Association for the Self-Employed. Darien directs the NASE’s government and public relations departments in the association’s Washington, D.C., office. She works closely with our nation’s policymakers in Congress and the Administration to advocate on behalf of the self-employed and micro-businesses.
Darien is one of the founding members of the 30-member coalition supporting Equity for Our Nation’s Self-Employed, which works to end inequities within the tax code faced by our nation’s self-employed. She leads the association’s Your Health, Your Choice Initiative focused on educating micro-business owners on their health coverage options. Additionally, Darien is a member of Women in Government Relations (WGR) and serves on the steering committee of the Women Under Forty Political Action Committee.
Prior to the NASE, Darien served as Government Affairs Manager for the National Small Business Association, and also worked in her family’s business, Grand Post Deli, in White Plains, New York. A graduate of Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, she is currently working towards her Masters in Public Administration at George Mason University in Virginia.
